I have been trying to get information from Ford Motor Company for quite some time. I believe that my 1994 Ford Explorer Sport has an electrical malfunction that may possibly be inherent with that yearmodel. I remember seeing a recall for 1995-1996 models that included some of the problems I have been experiencing with my vehicle onoff for the past 4-5 years. The basic problem has to do with the cruise control not working at times. I have not been able to get any answer from the company nor the local dealers. My initial problem started, as previously stated, about 4-5 years ago (when the vehicle was 7-8 years old and still had less than 100,000 miles on it). One day the cruise control just refused to turn on. When tried again a few weeks later, it worked just fine. It goes through spells...it will work for a while, then it won't work again for a while. The next thing that started happening was that my cigarette lighter stopped working. It has never been used for cigarettes, only cell phone chargers and seat cushion heaters. I have checked the fuses, that is not the problem. If it was, something major would have quit at the same time. The next item was the passenger window...it just stopped working. I figured it was the motor, but after 3 years of not working it suddenly started working again last summer! The only change I have made in the vehicle was to replace the AMFMCassette player with an AMFMCD player, but it was the same size, did not require any additional wiring or dashboard adjustments. Could someone please tell me if possibly my vehicle may have a 'built-in' problem?
