Yum! Brands Inc. claims that two class-action lawsuits were filed against its subsidiary Taco Bell Corp., alleging violations of California's wage and hour laws.

The Louisville, Ky., restaurant company said in its quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission that the suits, which were filed in August by a restaurant general manager, allege unpaid overtime as well as violations related to meals and rest periods.

The lawsuits seek unspecified damages and penalties, the company said.
Yum! Brands said, "Taco Bell denies liability and intends to vigorously defend against all claims in this lawsuit."

The complaints seek to represent all restaurant general managers who have worked at restaurants owned by Yum! Brands from August 2002 to the present. One of the suits, filed in Orange County Superior Court, was voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff, and both cases have been consolidated in San Diego County Superior Court, Yum! Brands said.

The lawsuits seek to represent all restaurant general managers who have worked at restaurants owned by Yum! Brands from August 2002 to the present.
