Plaintiffs v Toyota

Redlands Law Firm Files National Class Action Lawsuit Against Toyota
The Redlands law firm McCuneWright LLP has filed a national class-action lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corp., alleging thousands of Toyota and Lexus owners have experienced sudden, unintended acceleration while driving.
It comes in the wake of a crash in San Diego County in August when a Lexus ES 350 driven by an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer reportedly accelerated to more than 100 mph, plunged into the San Diego riverbed and burst into flames, killing the officer and three of his family members.
It prompted a recall by Toyota of nearly four million vehicles.
Toyota Motor Corp. said in a statement the problem could be from ill-sized floor mats.
McCuneWright attorney David Wright suspects the problem is more extensive and could be related to vehicle throttle control systems and hardware.
According to plaintiff's counsel, Toyota has fielded about 2,000 reports of unintended accelerations since 2001.
Toyota officials say the question of unintended acceleration has been one of the most thoroughly investigated issues by Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
