Credit / Debt Class Actions

Class actions are often appropriate against credit card companies and other creditors because they generally treat large numbers of debtors the same way. These class actions may assert that the creditor charged unlawfully high interest or excessive fees, or that the creditor failed to tell the debtor the true cost of the loan. The actions may involve any type of loans: credit cards, payday loans, or mortgage loans, for example. Still other class actions are filed against debt collectors who violate a federal law, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, by harassing the debtor, or making misstatements during the collection process.
