Miscellaneous Class Actions

Some class actions don't fit into the other, more common categories. One of the main groups consists of class actions related to travel. These could be class actions by stranded airline passengers, or cruise passengers who feel they overpaid or didn't get what they paid for, or hotel guests who received improper billing or inadequate services.

Another main group of class actions that don't fit into other categories consists of actions brought by landowners. For instance, the owners of land from which gas, oil, or other mineral resources are extracted may allege that they are not receiving fair royalties. Or landowners may seek compensation when telephone companies lay cables on their property without asking permission, or when railroads stop using a section of train track but then let other companies use the property rather than returning it to its former owners.
