Other Drugs / Medical Cases of InterestThe parties have reached a tentative $10.2 million settlement of a class action filed against managed healthcare company Physician Corporation of America (Nasdaq: PCAM) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between March 31, 1996, and March 31, 1997, and still owned the stock on the latter date. To recover under the settlement, a completed proof of claim postmarked no later than December 22, 2003, must be mailed to the claims administrator.
The parties have reached a tentative $1.25 million settlement in a class action filed against MiniMed, Inc., and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who held the company's common stock as of July 16, 2001. Persons eligible to participate in the settlement must submit a proof of claim form postmarked no later than September 13, 2004. A class action has been filed against Dura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (formerly Nasdaq: DURA) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between April 15, 1997, and February 24, 1998. Several class actions have been filed against biopharmaceutical company IntraBiotics Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (Nasdaq:IBPI) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between September 5, 2003, and June 22, 2004. The actions claim that the defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market over this time period, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company's securities. A class action has been filed against biopharmaceutical company Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX: TTP) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between December 1, 1999, and July 22, 2002. The action claims that the defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market over this time period, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company's securities.
InterMune Inc., a biopharmaceutical company based out of California, has agreed to pay the government $36.9 million to resolve criminal charges and civil liabilities in connection with allegations of illegally promoting Actimmune for treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). |
