The parties have reached a tentative $4.5 million settlement in several actions filed against PHP Healthcare Corporation and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between July 27, 1995, and November 19, 1998. Persons eligible to participate in the settlement must file a proof of claim postmarked no later than May 13, 2004.
 
A nationwide class action has been filed against the manufacturer of weight-loss supplement CortiSlim, Window Rock Health Laboratories, Inc., on behalf of all purchasers of the supplement, who allege that the company has used false, deceptive, and misleading advertising to sell its products in violation of California consumer protection laws.
 
Bristol-Myers Squibb confirms that the antibiotic Tequin, which has been linked to serious blood sugar complications, is being taken off the market. The company will stop making and selling the drug and return its rights to Kyorin Pharmaceutical Company in Japan.
 
A class action complaint alleging Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois inflated charges for uninsured patients will be heard on the hospital's motion to dismiss on Sept. 26. Circuit Judge Daniel Stack will hear the case in place of the retired Judge Philip Kardis. Kimberly Chronister, Lisa Golino, Julia Holman, Linda Hughes, and Robert Orasco accuse the hospital of charging unfair and unreasonable prices for medical care. The plaintiffs all reside in Illinois.
 
Several class actions have been filed against healthcare facility operator Dynacq International (Nasdaq: DYIIE, formerly Nasdaq: DYII) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between January 14, 2003, and December 18, 2003. The actions claim that the defendants fraudulently certified that Dynacq's financial statements for the first three quarters of fiscal 2003 were compiled in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The stockholders seek to recover compensatory damages for the loss of value of their stock.

The syndromes are potentially life-threatening inflammatory skin disorders that can also cause lesions on internal organs.
