Centro In Court Over $1bn Class Action

Centro Properties is fighting a $1 billion-plus joint class actions launched by disgruntled investors who bought in when the stock was riding high, only to find it was near collapse.

IMF said its claims related to alleged misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches by Centro Properties of its continuous disclosure obligations between August 9, 2007, and February 15, 2008, and on April 30, 2008.

A class action has been filed against China Aviation (Singapore) Corporation Ltd., (CAOLF.PK) a trader of petroleum products, including jet fuel, gas oil, fuel oil, crude oil, plastics and oil derivatives, and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between February 5, 2004 and November 30, 2004. The action claims that the defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market over this time period, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company's securities. The stockholders seek to recover compensatory damages for the loss of value of their stock.
 
A class action has been filed against Ionatron, Inc. (IOTN), certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock between June 27, 2005 and May 10, 2006. The action claims that the defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market over this time period, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company's securities. The stockholders seek to recover compensatory damages for the loss of value of their stock.
 
On June 27, 2008, the Court entered the Order signed by U.S. District Judge Gerard E. Lynch consolidating three actions under In re Société Générale Securities Litigation, case number 08cv2495.
 
According to a press release dated April 02, 2008, the complaint charges Candela and certain of its officers and directors with violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (the “Exchange Act”). Candela engages in the development and commercialization of laser and light-based systems that allow physicians and personal care practitioners to treat various cosmetic and medical conditions worldwide.
