The HomeTeam Pest Defense Company, a subsidiary of Centex Corporation, provides built-in home pest treatments through a tubes-in-the-wall or tubes-in-the-floor pest defense system. However, some individuals who have the tubes-in-the-wall or tubes-in-the-floor pest defense system have found it to be an ineffective system. Independent tests of the tubes-in-the-wall or tubes-in-the-floor pest defense system have also questioned the effectiveness of the system. A class action has been filed against the online movie rental service Netflix, Inc. and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company’s common stock between October 1, 2003 and July 15, 2004. The action claims that the defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market over this time period, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company’s securities. The stockholders seek to recover compensatory damages for the loss of value of their stock. A lawsuit filed by lawyers in Maryland accuses Blue Hippo Funding of "an elaborate scheme to violate a host of federal and state consumer protection laws" through its broadcast and online sales of big-screen TVs, computers and other consumer items. Lawyers for the consumers argue that Blue Hippo collects payments from customers, then delays shipments and does not give refunds - even if the product is never delivered. A class action has been filed against Eagle Electric Manufacturing Company on behalf of West Virginians whose homes use an allegedly unsafe type of electrical outlet in violation of state consumer safety laws.
