Two dealers at Wynn Las Vegas have filed a class action lawsuit to end the casino's new tip-sharing program.
Daniel Baldonado and Joseph Cesarz say the new policy violates Nevada state law because employers are sharing tips. The new policy forces them to give some of their tips to floor supervisors. The dealers say they are filing the lawsuit on behalf of more than 500 dealers affected by the new policy which went into effect in early September, 2006. A class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of employees of Novastar Mortgage Company. The suit alleges that the company routinely denied overtime pay to loan originators who qualified as hourly employees and who had worked hours in excess of 40 per week. The workers are seeking back overtime pay and other damages. A class action has been filed on behalf of retirees who retired from the Case Corporation (now known as CNH Global NV) on or after July 1, 1983 and were under 62 years of age at the time of retirement. The suite alleges that Case denied such retirees supplemental benefits due to them under negotiated collective bargaining agreements and in violation of federal law. A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District Court of Texas against Eyelane, Inc., a Texas optometrist for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Class members seek unpaid compensation, attorney's fees, costs and interest. A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Southern District Court of Florida against Rones, Inc DBA La Pizzeria. The case involves violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). No additional information about the substance of the allegations is available at this time.
