Gymboree Reaches Agreement to Settle Claims on California Class Action Wage-And-Hour Lawsuit. The Gymboree Corporation reached an agreement to settle claims on a California class action wage-and-hour lawsuit.
The settlement is subject to court approval. As part of the agreement, the children's apparel retailer will pay $2.3 million, payable on a claims-made basis. The company said it will record a $1.5 million after-tax charge during the third quarter. Although Gymboree does not expect the settlement to have a material effect on future earnings, the company lowered fiscal-year earnings projections. The lawsuit seeks to approve the landmark health care deal that the union and automaker approved by a razor-thin margin late last year. Under the agreement, retired autoworkers would start paying monthly contributions, annual deductibles and co-payments for some medical services up to a maximum of $370 a year for individuals and $752 for a family. Currently these fees are not paid by employees. A class action lawsuit has been filed in the District Court of New Jersey against the City of Somers Point. The case involves violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. No additional information about the substance of the allegations is available at this time. Williams Companies, Inc., a natural gas processor and transporter, has settled a class action suit over investments made by its retirement plans. A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District Court of Illinois against Frank Zanotti Title Company, Inc. The case involves violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
