Whirlpool Employees' Suit Alleges Racial Discrimination |

A group of 20 current and former employees have filed a $50 million class-action lawsuit against Whirlpool Corporation, alleging racial discrimination at the company's LaVergne facility.
The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, Local S-272, have also been named as defendants.
The suit, which was filed on behalf of black and white employees, alleges Whirlpool management perpetuated a hostile work environment, which included racial jokes and slurs and racist graffiti.
The plaintiffs, who are represented by four law firms, seek compensatory and punitive damages.
Whirlpool is a leading manufacturer of major home appliances, with annual sales of over $68 billion and 68,000 employees. About 1,500 of those are employed at the LaVergne plant, which produces air conditioners, air purifiers, and humidifiers.

A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Southern District Court of Florida against JR’s Better on A Bagel Boca, Inc. The case involves violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act which establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments.
