Hundreds of passengers are suing Miami-based cruise line Norwegian after they say the ship's crew intentionally put them in danger because the ship was in a rush to get to a taping of Donald Trump's reality television show "The Apprentice."
The suit, filed in Miami, Florida, seeks $100 million in damages. The complaint alleges that the crew knowingly put the 2,500 people on board the ship in harm's way because it was rushing to make it to the taping of "The Apprentice" television show in New York City in April.
One of the attorneys representing several hundred passengers in the lawsuit, said many passengers thought they were going to die when waves up to 70 feet high slammed into the ship during a storm.
"Passengers feared their lives," He said. "They were out in the open seas. People started putting on life jackets expecting the worst. They started calling their loved ones to say good-byes."
Four people suffered minor injuries because of the wave, which also flooded 62 cabins.
It will be up to a judge to decide if the class action suit has enough merit to make it to court.
