Landowners allege that the Canadian business 360 Networks chose to forego time-consuming negotiations with class members and instead, entered into quick agreements with other companies, such as railroad, pipeline, energy and other utility companies, and paid them millions to construct its fiber optic network.

A lawsuit has been filed to force Ohio's Secretary of State to remove social security numbers from his website. The concern is that the information on the internet could lead to identity theft. The suit seeks class action status for anyone whose social security number can be accessed on the web site of Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.

The way to prevent being taken advantage of is to know your rights. The class has been certified in a Florida action filed against the Equity Residential Properties Trust and affiliated organizations on behalf of all Equity Residential Florida apartment tenants and their co-signers who moved or left their Equity Residential Florida apartment from December 1, 1998, to present, who signed an Equity form lease and who received a demand for fees resulting from “insufficient notice,” “early termination,” “cancellation,” “lease fulfillment,” “no notice given,” or “liquidated damages.” Persons eligible to take part in the action should contact the class attorneys for more information.

The parties have reached a tentative $8 million partial settlement in an action filed against AMF Bowling, Inc. (Pink Sheets: AMBWQ.PK) and certain of its officers and directors by stockholders who purchased the company's common stock pursuant to the registration statement for the November 1997 initial public offering before February 26, 1999. The action continues against the remaining institutional defendants. Proof of claim documents must be postmarked on or before October 29, 2004, to be considered valid.

An administrative proceeding has been filed against Integrated Capital, Inc., doing business as National Student Financial Aid (NSFA), and its principal, Alan Wilson, on behalf of persons who paid NSFA to assist them in finding college financial aid services. The action alleges that the company violated the terms of an August 2003 settlement barring deceptive practices in connection with the marketing and sale of college financial aid services.
