A nationwide class action has been filed against banking giant Bank One Corporation alleging that the company mismanaged its employees' 401k accounts. The action is brought under the federal ERISA statute on behalf of all Bank One employees who, between March 22, 2002, and the present, participated in the company's 401k retirement plan and whose investments in the plan included Bank One stock or mutual funds.
 
A class action lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Advanced Communication Solutions, Inc. The case involves violations of Federal Labor law. A close look into the "medical malpractice crisis" will show that insurance companies, not lawyers, are to blame. Three related class actions have been filed against the General Reinsurance Corporation, Reciprocal of America, accounting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Milliman U.S.A., and numerous other malpractice insurance providers on behalf of attorneys, doctors and hospitals who bought malpractice insurance from the insurers. The action alleges that the malpractice insurers conspired with their reinsurer Reciprocal of America, which in turn conspired with General Reinsurance to misrepresent Reciprocal's financial health, in violation of the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
 
Low wage laundry workers in San Leandro, California won a landmark lawsuit on September 23, 2005 when an Alameda County judge upheld their living wage claim against uniform giant, Cintas Corporation. The decision was the first class action living wage case decided by a U.S. court. It requires Cintas, the uniform rental giant, to pay more than $1 million in interest and back wages to 219 workers who washed and sorted uniforms, towels and mats between 1999 and 2003 at the Cincinnati-based company's San Leandro and Union City plants.
 
Two Watsonville, California residents are accusing La Esperanza Markets of failing to pay dozens of former and current employees hundreds of hours in overtime. Guillermo Mendez and Jose Contreras Moreno and their attorneys filed a class action lawsuit in Santa Cruz County Superior Court. They're also alleging that the owners of the chain of stores, Javier and Emilia Vazquez, rarely granted workers their 10-minute and 30-minute lunch breaks, a requirement under California law.
