Medquist, Inc. Transcriptionists Claim Underpayment of Wages

A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District Court of Georgia against Medquist, Inc., a New Jersey based provider of electronic medical transcription, health information and document management services, alleging fraud, breach of contract, demand for accounting, unjust enrichment, negligence, negligent supervision, and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO). Class members seek compensatory damages, punitive damages and restitution.

Specifically, the complaint alleges that current and former employees and statutory workers of MedQuist, from January 1, 1998 to present (the "Class Period"), who are or were compensated on a "per line" basis for medical transcription services. The complaint specifically alleges that defendants systematically and wrongfully underpaid class members during the Class Period.

A statewide collective action has been filed in Florida against Nicholas Financial, Inc. and its President, Peter Vosatas. The action is brought on behalf of all current and former Florida employees who did not receive overtime compensation as required for all hours worked in excess of 40 weekly. The action is brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and seeks back-pay, compensatory damages, liquidated damages as well as declaratory and injunctive relief. As a collective action, all potential claimants must opt-in to the action in order to be considered part of the class. The employees have requested that the court issue notice to all potential claimants.
 
A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Southern District Court of Florida against CW Lobster Company, LLC. The case involves violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act which establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. No additional information about the substance of the allegations is available at this time. A statewide collective action has been filed in Florida against Running Billboard Corporation. The action is brought on behalf of all current and former hourly employees who were not paid overtime compensation by Running Billboard. The action is brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and seeks statutory and liquidated damages as well as injunctive and declaratory relief. As a collective action, all potential claimants are required to "opt-in" to the case in order to be considered part of the class. The employees have asked the court to issue notice to all potential class members.
