Chevy Chase Bank has settled a seven-year-old class-action lawsuit that could affect hundreds of thousands of credit card holders who say they were charged late fees and excessive interest rates that were not part of their agreements with the bank.
 
A statewide class action has been filed in Indiana against collections specialist Account Receivable Collections, LLC. The action is brought on behalf of all Indiana consumers who received an initial collection letter from Account Receivable that demanded immediate payment of their debt. The action is brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and seeks statutory damages as well as injunctive and declaratory relief.
 
A state wide class action has been filed in Pennsylvania against collection specialists, Bronson & Migliaccio, LLP. The action is brought on behalf of all Pennsylvania consumers who, since January 30, 2003, have received a "form type" collection letter from Bronson & Migliaccio. The action is brought under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and seeks statutory damages as well as injunctive and declaratory relief.
