A Philadelphia woman has filed a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit against a Utah-based lender that makes payday loans through numerous Internet sites.
 
A class action lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia against Advanced Funding, Inc. The case involves violations of truth in lending laws. A statewide class action has been filed in Florida against mortgage service specialist, Green Tree Servicing, LLC. The action is brought on behalf of all Florida residents whose mortgage was transferred to Green Tree for servicing and who did not receive a notice of transfer within the federally mandated 15 day period. The action is brought under the federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and seeks a minimum of $1000 in statutory damages per class member as well as compensatory damages where appropriate.
 
A class action has been filed against Bon-Macy's, and credit services company FACS Group, Inc., on behalf of the store's credit card customers, who allege that the company has been charging them for credit card insurance that they did not authorize, in violation of state consumer protection laws.
 
Federal laws regulating debt collectors hold them to strict standards for the protection of U.S. consumers. The class has been certified in an action filed against debt collector Coldata on behalf of all persons with Illinois addresses who were sent a letter on or after December 5, 2001, seeking to collect credit card debt containing a settlement offer of 50 percent or more with a specific deadline.
