Former workers of Havens Steel Company reached a preliminary settlement in a lawsuit filed over a dispute of an employee stock ownership plan. The proposed settlement of the class-action suit, which includes about 500 former employees and retirees, canceled a trial that was scheduled to begin early April 2006.

A federal judge in New Jersey granted class-action status to a lawsuit filed by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) and seven drivers against one of the largest transportation companies in the world. OOIDA, along with seven of its owner-operator members serving as co-plaintiffs, filed suit against Bridge Terminal Transport (BTT).

A collective action has been filed in Florida against data processing giant, NCCI Holdings, Inc. The action is brought on behalf of all hourly employees who were not paid overtime compensation by NCCI for all hours worked beyond 40 per week. The action is brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and seeks back pay, statutory and liquidated damages as well as declaratory and injunctive relief. As a collective action, all potential claimants must "opt-in" in order to be considered a member of the class. The employees have requested that the court issue notice to all potential claimants.

A class action lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma against Rem, Inc. The case involves violations of Federal Labor law. The parties have reached a tentative $7.2 million settlement in an action filed against the Washington Department of Corrections on behalf of state corrections officers who alleged that they should have been paid for "pass-down" periods at the beginning and end of their shifts dating back to 2000.
