A statewide collective action has been filed in Texas against Pinkerton's, Inc. and its parent, Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. The action is brought on behalf of all Texas residents employed as security guards by Pinkerton's or Securitas who were not paid overtime compensation during their employment. International Business Machines Corporation, (IBM) faces a lawsuit that was filed in federal court for allegedly not paying overtime to tens of thousands of rank-and-file employees.
 
Kahn Gauthier Swick is investigating possible legal actions on behalf of persons harmed by exposure to asbestos. It is estimated that half a million legal actions have been filed to recover for injuries and deaths resulting from asbestos.
 
Federal civil rights laws prohibit employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The parties have reached a settlement apparently valued at $1.5 million in an administrative action filed against the U.S. Department of Agriculture on behalf of Asian and Pacific Islander workers who allege that they were passed over or demoted after they filed discrimination complaints, in violation of their civil rights.
 
A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Southern District Court of Ohio against Maxim Health Systems, LLC, a health care company who employs more than 56,000 clinicians, allied health professionals, physicians and administrative personnel in cities across the US, for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) which establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. Class members seek to recover unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs of the litigation.
 
Federal law prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace. A class action has been filed against business consulting service International Profit Associates, Inc. on behalf of current and former female employees who allege that they were her arrest sexually on the job in violation of federal civil rights laws.
