A Federal Judge in Manhatttan Awarded A $2.9 Settlement to Former AOL Time Warner Employees that Claim the Company Underpayed their Retirement Benefits.
 
The class has been certified in an action filed against Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., on behalf of all women who did not work for Wal-Mart and resided within a 40-mile radius of the Wal-Mart store in Natchitoches, Louisiana, who can establish that they were in the store’s public restroom sometime between November 16, 1996, and July 9, 1997. The action alleges that a video camera was set up in the store bathroom to record women as they used the toilet. Persons eligible to take part in the action should contact attorneys for the class.
 
CCC Information Services Inc., a subsidiary of CCC Information Services Group Inc. announced July 13, 2005 it and 15 of its customers signed a settlement agreement with the plaintiffs in various class action suits pending in Madison County, Illinois. The consolidated suits relate to the valuation of vehicles that have been declared total losses by insurers.
 
U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith in Cincinnati gave preliminary approval to the fiveyear plan that also calls for ongoing review of medical policies and procedures. The judge set a hearing for November 16, 2005. Under the settlement, the Ohio state prison system will hire about 20 doctors and increase its medical staff by 50 percent under a proposed settlement to a class-action lawsuit brought by inmates alleging inadequate health care.
