Manufacturer Accused of Failing to Pay Overtime to Security Officers

Report Fraud
Case ID: 3824 | Employment | 10/19/2004

When ClassactionAmerica first reported on this case the complaint was not yet available. ClassactionAmerica has now obtained a copy of the complaint and can provide further details on the substance of the allegations against Sextant Sterling I, Inc.

The complaint alleges that security officers employed by the Florida company were routinely denied overtime pay regardless of how many hours they were required to work. The federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to pay employees overtime of time and one-half the normal rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a single workweek.

The plaintiffs seek an award of back overtime pay, together with liquidated damages (an award of additional monies intended to punish the alleged wrongdoing and deter further denials of overtime), attorneys fees and costs.
