A lawsuit against the Canadian National Railway over a train derailment that forced hundreds of residents to evacuate southern Illinois town of Tamaroa can continue as a class action case, an appellate court ruled. The railroad had appealed a lower court's ruling that granted class action status to the plaintiffs, which number more than 500, according to the plaintiffs' attorney.
 
All molds have the potential to cause health problems. A class action has been filed against the city and county of Denver, Colorado, on behalf of all persons who have been exposed to the allegedly poor environmental conditions at Denver International Airport since the facility opened in February 1995, citing violations of state environmental laws.
 
A lawsuit was filed against the owner of a Prairieville, Louisiana landfill and one of the waste transporters. Court records show the lawsuit seeks a court order to halt the facility’s reportedly foul smell. Filed by a Prairieville resident who lives near the landfill off La. 928, the lawsuit asks a state court judge to grant an order blocking the landfill owner and transporters from “emitting odors which cause the plaintiffs” serious or material discomfort, records show.
 
Settlement funds have been released to a majority of flood victims who filed a class-action lawsuit against the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), according to an attorney representing the plaintiffs. Payments were disbursed following a late Feb. 27 hearing which concluded a long legal battle between Ottawa County, Oklahoma residents who suffered repeated flooding in a three-year period and GRDA.
