Ticketmaster and Madison Square Garden Sued for Selling Obstructed View Tickets to Michael Jackson Concert

A class action has been filed against Ticketmaster, a seller of tickets to various sporting and entertainment events, for selling tickets to Michael Jackson’s 2001 “King of Pop” tour in 2001 at Madison Square Garden in New York City that had obstructed views.

Specifically, the class alleges that Ticketmaster and Madison Square Garden sold seats with obstructed views to Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary show in 2001. The plaintiff, Dana Gross, paid $98.50 plus service charges for to see the show, but could not see the show due to obstructed views. She complained to Ticketmaster and Madison Square Garden without avail. The class alleges deceptive business practices and breach of contract, covers 7,840 ticket buyers and seeks $14 million in damages.

New York based diamond company W. B. David & Co., Inc. filed suit in Manhattan federal court on September 2, 2004 against the De Beers group of Companies, Company Directors, DTC Sightholders, U.S advertising agency J. Walter Thompson, and others for some $100 million, injunctive relief and attachment of De Beers’ U.S. assets.
 
A Jefferson County judge ruled that a class action suit may be filed over the Steubenville, Ohio traffic cameras. Judge David E. Henderson entered a "Certification as Class Action," which permits a class action lawsuit to proceed against the city of Steubenville and Traffipax, Inc.
 
A federal lawsuit against Rodale Inc. alleging that the company used illegal marketing tactics has been certified as a class action suit. The suit alleges that Rodale had a practice of sending unordered books to customers, then billing the customers, violating federal and state consumer protection laws. The case could benefit tens of thousands of consumers across the nation that Rodale supposedly targeted.
 
A federal judge in the Southern District of New York has given class action status to a lawsuit filed by a Burlington County man who claims he was defrauded and tricked into the purchase of "Freedom Tower Silver Dollar" coins. In the lawsuit, attorney Stephen P. DeNittis claims National Collector's Mint Inc. misrepresented the composition of the commemorative coin, which sold for $23.45 plus shipping and handling
