Bank One Taken To Task For Not Paying Group Bankers Any Overtime |

A nationwide class action has been filed against Bank One, N.A. on behalf of all non-supervisory Group Bankers employed by Bank One since September 29, 2000, who allege that the company has not paid them overtime for hours they work in excess of their normal 40-hour workweek, in violation of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Qualified employees should join the action as soon as possible to prevent forfeiture of benefits because of the operation of federal statutory deadlines.
The action alleges that these employees work an average of 55 hours per week attempting to obtain accounts from other businesses for the direct deposit of employees' paychecks. Once they have gotten the go-ahead from a business, they then seek out employees of the business and attempt to convince them to use Bank One's direct deposit services. They are allegedly only paid a base salary, with no overtime benefits. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employees are generally not entitled to their lost overtime pay for hours they worked more than two, or in some cases three, years earlier than the filing date of the action that seeks repayment of the lost overtime pay.

Williams Companies, Inc., a natural gas processor and transporter, has settled a class action suit over investments made by its retirement plans. Mayor Richard Daley's administration faces a new lawsuit filed by four retirees from Chicago's trade unions. The retired union workers are challenging a 2005 decision to deny them back pay as part of contract settlements. The federal lawsuit is seeking class-action status that could include more than 1,000 other retired workers.
